Why am I writing a blog?

I guess the roots of this blog began when I decided to make good on a promise I made while standing in my driveway 20+ years ago, tears running down my cheeks. I was listening to my son’s middle school counselor tell me that since we didn’t have health insurance and virtually no money in the bank, there would be no help available for our 13-year-old son, who was on the cusp of becoming an alcoholic. I hung up the phone, and while holding what was my fourth can of beer in my hand, I looked up at a full moon and asked God to one day let me be the help that wasn’t there for us that night.

The reason I didn’t have any money or health insurance was due to my decision to strike out on my own and start an alternative fuel consulting firm. Eleven years ago, I closed my firm and returned to school for more degrees and training so I could make good on that promise.

Along with my education and clinical training, I also bring 50+ years of life experience, nearly 14 years of sobriety, and 37 years of marriage to each session. I am also a Clinically Certified Trauma Specialist(CCTS) and Master Life Coach (MLC). All of this makes it possible for me to truly help anyone struggling with trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and couples’ issues. This blog will be my attempt at sharing some of the insights and painful discoveries I’ve made over my lifetime.
